POWER TRANSFORMERS TESTING & DIAGNOSTICS

PRE & POST COMMISSIONING TESTS
We offer a series of qualitative offline and online tests for pre and post commissioning of transformers to the established standards. Pre and Post Commissioning tests include condition assessment of transformer windings to verify the safe transportation of the transformer from factory to work site, assessment of insulation’s dryness prior to commissioning, correct erection and installation bushings and CTs, verification of protection circuits, correct operation of tap-changer and other auxiliaries including Buchholz relay, Pressure Relief Valves, etc.
Our tool box is equipped with test instruments having best in class reliability, repeatability and has highest track record of timely delivery.
RESIDUAL LIFE ASSESSMENT (RLA)
In general, transformers such as Generator Transformers, Station Transformers and Inter-connecting Transformer are required to be highly reliable so that operational as well as safety risks at site are minimized. In order to ensure transformer’s reliability, it is vital to assess the extent of ageing and early identification of emerging faults. We offer a suite of tests referred to as Residual Life Assessment which helps in assessing remaining useful life of a given transformer.
The RLA test program employs a selection of tests including electrical tests, oil-paper related tests to assess the insulation degradation as well as online Partial Discharge test on the transformer. Such tests reveal adequate information pertaining to insulation degradation and remaining life left.
This program has been designed with operational safety and reliability in mind. It allows the asset owners to take timely decisions to help resolve the issue by enacting necessary repairs, refurbishment or replacement.
It is best suited for large power transformers, Generator Transformers in particular. However, the program can be applied to any critical transformer to make an assessment of its remaining useful life.
ONLINE SCREENING OF LARGER ASSET BASE
A very detailed life assessment program is a thorough condition assessment tool for transformers. But there are instances where only condition screening is preferred, generally because of larger asset base and the total costs involved. We suggest a purposefully crafted an online screening program which employs minimal tests but still yields very useful and actionable information without stretching budgets any further.
The screening program focuses on the condition assessment of transformer’s insulation system without the need of taking equipment outage. The online screening programs yields obvious benefits on the count of cost, time and efforts and yet gain qualitative information.
FAULT FINDING & DIAGNOSTICS SERVICES
Transformers are susceptible to various ad-hoc issues and faults which may or may not be driven by generalized ageing. These may include faults with the windings, tap-changer, bushings, core, etc. We offer specialized fault finding and diagnostics services to identify a possible cause and to help formulate a repair or refurbishment strategy.
